Personal: A Letter to My Sister

At some point along the way we became best friends. I don't know how it happened or what changed but it did. We are wildly different, and yet the same. We disagree all the time and I sometimes want to kill her, but in the end it never really matters. This year I took a risk and decided to make a very personal gift for her for Christmas. At the end of the book I wrote a simple letter to her about life. One day I'm sure we will look back and be glad for it. Here it is:

Sometimes, you find yourself in the middle of nowhere, and sometimes, in the middle of nowhere, you find yourself.

I hope that in the middle of nowhere you find yourself. I hope that you wake up one day and realize life is full of moments that build and shape you into a wonderful woman. I hope that you find happiness in the small things in life. I hope when you stumble, you pick yourself back up and smile. I hope that when music comes on you dance. I hope that you are thankful for the bad things in life that have made you appreciate the good. I hope that you have learned life goes on. I hope you experience love and loss but never lose love. And I hope you wake up everyday knowing you are beautiful. Be proud of yourself and know your worth.

I love you.

Hi, I'm Kate.

I'm not your average photographer. I roll on the floor, make obnoxious noises, and swear a little too much. All in the name of the best pictures. The first two things are to make kids laugh at me, the second for adults. Just please don't confuse the two. I LOVE my job. I relish in the fact that most kids like me and seem to have fun when I'm around. I love to find clients that relax and live in the moment allowing me to capture it. I like to think outside the box and not do what everyone else is doing. I find joy in the small things in life and hope to photograph your joy. I'm the photographer that follows you to find pumpkins at the patch, pick the perfect holiday tree, and chase your kids on the beach all while juggling my camera in hand. It's what I do. If you are looking for a photographer that is full of fun and makes you laugh the whole session, both at me and at yourselves, we are the perfect fit. I'm looking to book sessions for 2012 and weddings for 2013. Email or call me and we can talk business or pleasure, but lets get something on the books so you have some great photos to hang on those walls that have been bare a little too long.
xoxo

When searching for the perfect photographer for your special day, event or family photos please ask yourself would you...
1. Ask a plumber to put out your fire?
2. Ask a high school drop out to be your tutor?
3. Have a dog sitter babysit your child?
4.  Allow a blind man to drive truck for a living?
5. Get your hair styled by a hot mess of a stylist?
6. Pay an overweight trainer to get you into shape?
7. Entrust an eye surgeon to operate on your kidney?
And last but not least....
8. Invite Nicki Minaj to be a keynote speaker at your youth group convention?

If you have answered yes to any of these questions maybe you should ask a writer to take your photos instead of me. A degree matters. If it didn't, why would I waste my time and money on becoming a professional photographer while so many out there aren't. Sometimes it takes more than just an interest. Its hard work with lots of technical ability, eye for design and people skills. Be aware of the people that are good at everything but great at nothing.

Central Pennsylvania Wedding Photographer: Kristi and Anthony

Yesterday I had the pleasure of shooting Kristi and Anthony's big day with the help of my friend Caren.  They had a beautiful ceremony and reception held at Lily Manor.  When we first got there, Kristi told me she wanted to capture every tiny detail of the house and event because it was all so special to her.  That being said, here is a sneak peak at how wonderful their details really were!

Children's Photographer: Kaeley 1 Year

Sunday Kaeley had her 1 year photo shoot.  She completely surprised me with tons and tons of smiles off the bat. She did awesome, despite her poor eyes being bothered by allergies.  I was able to capture this special moment, and I just LOVE it.

Fashion Editorial: Salon Nouveau

Yesterday I had the pleasure of shooting models styled by a local York salon called Salon Nouveau. They each styled one girl any way they liked.....AMAZING. That's the only word to describe what each stylist came up with. Here's just a glimpse at Katrina Bleacher's model. Thanks to everyone involved!

Sometimes just knowing that person is there makes life easier.
Sometimes it isn't enough.
Sometimes is today.

Today I had an amazing day with my nephew.  He is getting so big, I can hardly stand it.  I left him pick out his entire outfit, down to his sneakers. He loved it! We played all day and I got some really great candid shots of him.

Giving Back

A friend of mine owns a wonderful business called Cancer Warrior. She gives a massive amount of money to cancer research and she truly believes in it.  I can't think of many other people in this world with a heart as big as hers. Please check out her facebook page, and notice she is running a HUGE sale. All her proceeds go back to the cause.

Child Photographer: Mariah

Today I had my niece for the day, and my did we have fun! While we were out gathering her cupcakes for her birthday shoot a older gentleman mentioned how beautiful she was.  On our way out the door, he handed her a $5 bill and said it was for her birthday! I was delighted to see that there are still kind hearted people around. I think it made my day more than it made hers.  Here is just a sneak peak at her photos!

Why order prints from me versus Walmart?

Everyone always asks me the same question. Why should I order prints from you if I have purchased a disc and can do so myself? A great way to answer that is to just SHOW you why....

Quality is of no comparison when you look at these two prints. Professional photographers actually have access to companies that only deal with businesses so we get a higher quality than the public. Now don't get me wrong, some places do a better job of reproducing, but sometimes, if your want to display these on the wall it's just better to pay more for a better print.

So, then why do I still sell my CD'S to my clients? That's easy. This way, 20 years down the road they have their own copies. Also, for those small prints sometimes it's just more practical to do it yourself. I understand that professional prints cost more but trust me when you get that beautiful canvas back from me you will be amazed at how wonderful it is!
